After a sluggish few seasons, the Asian art market appears to be entering its Hopeful Period.
Hong Kong's major spring auctions kicked off earlier this week with solid sales of wine and Asian art—including a $3.5 million mountain scene by Chinese modernist Zhang Daqian at China Guardian and $5.2 million of comic-style paintings by contemporary artist Yoshitomo Nara at Sotheby's.
