Rachel Corbett reports in Artinfo’s In the Air blog that Doyle New York, an Upper East Side auction house, sold only nine of the 34 works in their sale of inventory from Knoedler Gallery. Knoedler closed last year amid a scandal that the gallery was selling forgeries. The organizers of the sale at Doyle had said that only work that was not tied up in the scandal would be included, but needless to say, the auction fell way short of its $1.3 million to $2 million presale estimate.
