The leading Chinese contemporary artist, Zhang Xiaogang, has once gained global collectors’ attention by creating “Blood Line” series of oil paintings. Currently, he is brewing a new artistic breakthrough, bronze sculpture, as his new art form.
As reported, Zhang Xiaogang took a break because of his heart disease operation and stopped painting for a while last year. Right now, he is refreshed and focusing most of his energy on bronze sculptures.
Zhang said he started to undertake this new artistic "Bronze Sculpture" five years ago and till now still find it very challenging.

Last year, the artist hired two young sculpture assistants to help him create ten human models which include a four-inch high bust of teenager sailor and an enlarged size of baby image. It is understood that Zhang’s studio is full of discarded bronze.
The artist is represented by Pace Gallery, this winter he will head for the USA to create several artworks, which will be open to the public next spring. “Perhaps, my life journey has just begun” Zhang revealed to the media. (Source: Chengdu Daily)
