Chinese auction giant Beijing Poly International Auction Companyrecently made their first foray into the Australian art market with a week-long sourcing expedition.
The last stop of their 16-country collection schedule, the Australian event took place from the 7th to the 13th of April in Sydney and Melbourne.
A team of Poly Auction representatives were available to see prospective clients at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel on the 7th to the 8th of April and at the Melbourne Marriot Hotel from the 12th to the 13th of April.
According to Poly Auction representatives the trip was a big success with many treasures viewed at both the Sydney and Melbourne sites thanks to the number of Chinese who emigrated to Australia during the 50’s and 60’s bringing with them a range of cultural treasures.
Australian collectors will be invited to the June spring auction in the hope that they will allow Poly Auction to sell their treasures and return significant cultural pieces to the motherland.
At the end of the Sydney event, an appreciation dinner was held to thank the foundations and organisations such as the Australian Chinese Chamber of Commerce that helped make the event a success.
Beijing Poly International Auction Company was founded on July 1st, 2005, and specializes in Chinese modern and contemporary art. Having been recognized as the fastest growing auction house in China, Poly Auction has developed an international vision and market-oriented strategy which aims to establish the company as a global brand.
