(School of the Art Institute of Chicago);另一位是Barbara Rosita Raimondo(2001年出生),目前活跃于威尼斯美术学院的艺术环境中。
本次展览由威尼斯美术学院asia.program 项目主办。
From 9 to 21 October 2026, Pavilion 36 at Forte Marghera will host Tender Decay, an exhibition experience born from the dialogue and visual intertwining between two young artists on the contemporary scene: Chinese-American Edie Xu (2000), trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Barbara Rosita Raimondo (2001), active at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
The exhibition is promoted by asia.program ABAV — an international research program coordinated by curator Fu Sen, Professor Paolo Fraternali and the Director of the Academy, Professor Riccardo Caldura — in collaboration with Professor Stefano Mancini, appointed by the Institution to curate the Pavilion 36 Space.

The Exhibition and the Poetics of Traces
Tender Decay invites visitors to engage with a journey along the shifting boundary between body and matter, offering a vantage point from which to observe the oscillations between persistence and dissolution.
“Perhaps existence leaves behind more than itself. When something is missing and can no longer be recounted in its entirety, we must turn to traces and fragments.”
— Fu Sen, curator of the exhibition
The exhibition unfolds like an exchange of silent echoes between "the trace of an oxidized color and a sedimented surface," between "a deformation caused by contact and a smell whose origin can no longer be recognized."
In an age accustomed to recognizing reality only through full presence, the exhibition interrogates emptiness: what happens when the hand, the body, or the memory disappear, when objects lose their function and even their name?

In both Edie Xu’s and Barbara Rosita Raimondo’s practices, reality never reveals itself in its entirety; instead, it emerges through fragments. Only through a quiet act of relinquishment does the object assume a new form, remaining bound to an original matter that is cumbersome and impossible to recover fully, yet equally impossible to lose.
In this process, the trace becomes the essential means of registering disappearance. The artwork ceases to be a mere representation and becomes a tool—both individual and collective—for approaching a presence and apprehending what remains in its wake, before time erases it entirely.

BANK Mab Society《To Save Or To Destroy》;上海香格纳画廊《Limited Intentionality》;北京公社《Out of Time》。
Edie Xu is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York and Beijing. Edie’s work explores the duality of time and space. Inspired by archaeology, geo-philosophy, and bodily memory, her work engages the politics of preservation and the aesthetics of decay. In these processes of making, the tension between materials creates an incubation where permanence and impermanence coexist. She invites the viewers to consider how bodies relate to space and structure, and how material reflects systems of care, community, and nostalgia.
She received her BFA degree in Fine Art from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Selected exhibitions include Intra, Cai Jin Space, Beijing, CN, To Save Or to Destroy, BANK Mab Society, New York, US, Limited Intentionality, Shanghart, Shanghai, CN, Out of Time Beijing Commune, Beijing, CN. Recent residencies include Radio 28 CS, Mexico City, Mexico and Hay Stack, Maine, United States.
